Totally Biased NFL Picks: Week 13

Welcome to Totally Biased’s NFL Week 13 picks! With another week under our belts I have emerged as this week’s victor! Although last week ended in a tie between Travis and myself, I remain on top, due to my sheer brilliance and masterful writing. “Wait a minute!” you say! “A tie?! Doesn’t that mean no one wins?!” No, dear reader, it means Travis lost. And I won. Again. What a big surprise. Try and remember, this is the Kris Kauffman Experience now! You can always count on me being on top around here! Just where Travis wants it. Anyway, Week 12 is in the books and each week the playoff race becomes a litte more clear. Or so we think. With Baltimore, New England and Pittsburgh all winning, the race for the AFC’s #1 seed is a tie, so far. With Baltimore winning over Pittsburgh, they hold the tie-breaker for the AFC North lead. Don’t count out New England, though, with the league’s easiest remaining schedule.

In the NFC things are just as tight, with the exception of the Green Bay Packers, who are clearly going to take the #1 Seed. The Saints and Falcons are separated by just one game in the standings, and could end up playing each other in the post-season. The 49ers are in cruise control for the rest of the season, with a playoff berth on the horizon, only needing a couple more wins to lock up the division. The NFC East is a whole other story. The Cowboys, winners of 4 straight, have emerged as the front-runners of the division but with the Giants still in the hunt, one game could mean all the difference.

Our “Lock of the Week” proved once again that Totally Biased gives nothing less than 110% on our picks and very carefully chooses which game should be deemed the lock. In Week 12, instead of choosing the Packers like everyone else, we went out on a limb and picked the Matt Schaub-less Texans to win over the Jaguars, and what was the end result? Another win for the Totally Biased “Lock of the Week”. Don’t mess with success.

With just 5 more weeks until the playoffs, each game is going to be pivotal. Will Travis be able to take back the throne or will I continue to crush him? Find out next week on The Kris Kauffman Experience! …I mean Totally Biased.

Season Standings
Travis: 55 – 30
Kris: 53 – 32
Lock of the Week: 5 – 1

======================

Trav: Philadelphia Eagles
Kris: Seattle Seahawks

Trav: Regardless of who quarterbacks this reeling Eagles squad, I would like to believe that they would lead the team to victory against the pathetic Pigeons–I mean, Seahawks. Vince Young dazzled the Patriots god-awful defense for 400+ yards, and has shown flashes of brilliance in his two starts. If LeSean McCoy sits, look for the score to be closer. Barely.

Trav: New England Pats
Kris: New England Pats

Kris: If there was any hope for the Colts this week it would definitely come in the form of Peyton Manning playing from a wheelchair. The Colts benched Curtis Painter for the Colts’ “Messiah” in Dan Orlovsky which could be their saving grace. Ahh who am I kidding, PATRIOTS WIN!

Trav: Minnesota Vikings
Kris: Denver Broncos

Trav: Tim Tebow wins games. I get it. Trust me. But he has to lose eventually …Right? Right?!

Trav: Oakland Raiders
Kris: Oakland Raiders

Kris: The Raiders, 7-4, are leading the division and seem to be on their way to a playoff berth. They face a Miami team that has been on a roll as of late and will be a tough match-up for Oakland. If Carson Palmer can limit his mistakes and Michael Bush can have success running the ball, then the Raiders should take this game.

Trav: New York Jets
Kris: New York Jets

Trav: The Jets are on the absolute brink of playing their way right out of the playoffs. If they lose to the Skins, you can kiss the season goodbye. As annoying as Rex Ryan may be, and he is VERY annoying, he is still a mighty fine coach [or, he does a good job of convincing us, anyway]. The Redskins have had a carousel all year of QB’s and RB’s alike. That is going to prove dangerous against the tough Jets defense. Gang Green in a blowout.

Trav: Atlanta Falcons
Kris: Houston Texans

Kris: Houston is hosting the 7-4 Atlanta Falcons for a game that means so much to both teams. Houston leads the AFC South division by 2 games and needs to win to hold off the Tennessee Titans. The Falcons are making a serious playoff push, winning their last two games and only trail the Saints by 1 game. Without Matt Schaub, the Texans could be in for a world of hurt, good thing they boast the league’s #1 ranked defense.

Trav: Chicago Bears
Kris: Chicago Bears

Trav: The Oakland Raiders needed a whopping six field goals from Sebastian Janikowski to beat the Bears. Imagine if those had been converted into TD’s! The Bears need to step it up against Kansas City and prove they could still be a formidable opponent in the post-season, even without Jay Cutler and his hurt wittle fumb :(

Trav: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Kris: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Kris: Tampa Bay and Carolina are very similar teams. They both allow a shitload of points and have trouble scoring. This game should be labeled as the “Coin flip of the week”. I’ve got Tampa Bay because they are at home.

Trav: Pittsburgh Steelers
Kris: Pittsburgh Steelers

Trav: This year has been unexpectedly kind to Cincy fans, but they needed a late second field goal to beat the lowly Browns. Pittsburgh, as we all know, is a much tougher team than the aforementioned squad from Cleveland. Even if Polamalu sits with a concussion, the defense should still be able to throw enough blitzes at Andy Dalton to force some mistakes. Pittsburgh needs to keep winning to stay atop the AFC North leader board with Baltimore, and have a shot at the overall #1 seed. Pittsburgh in a nail biter. This game has all the right fixins for a Hazard Pick of The Week!

Trav: Buffalo Bills
Kris: Buffalo Bills

Kris: Buffalo and Tennessee are both on the outside looking, as far as the playoffs go. Buffalo, once the AFC East division leader, has lost 4 straight to tough opponents. Tennessee is 6-5 and has a slim chance to sneak into the playoffs if they win all their games from here on out. Unfortunately, I believe neither will happen with either teams based on their ability to win close games. I’ve chosen Buffalo this week based on Tennessee’s 2-3 record on the road.

Trav: Baltimore Ravens
Kris: Baltimore Ravens

Kris: At first glance this game looks like a no-brainer to pick, but with the Ravens only two losses coming at the hands of Seattle and Tennessee, I can’t give them the benefit of the doubt. Although I do expect them to win, this game has the potential to be close if Baltimore doesn’t get it’s act together.

Trav: Green Bay Packers
Kris: Green Bay Packers

Trav: I’m biased, but I’m not an idiot. *Sigh* …Wait a second, am I the only one experiencing some Deja Vu?

Trav: Dallas Cowboys
Kris: Dallas Cowboys

Kris: With Dallas winning 4 straight games, they find themselves in sole possesion of first place in the NFC East. In order to maintain their lead on the Giants they must beat the inferior Cardinals at home. Dallas can win this game easily if Romo can continue playing the way he has as of late. Hopefully we can see some more fireworks from the Cardinal’s rookie sensation, Patrick Petersen.

Trav: San Francisco 49’ers
Kris: San Fransisco 49ers

Trav: Ahh, the weekly “Shitty Game Between NFC West Opponents”. Yawn. San Francisco takes this one. Why? Because the Rams are god awful, and San Fran is a win or two away from locking up that division. But mostly because St. Louis sucks.

Trav: New Orleans Saints
Kris: New Orleans Saints

Kris: With another convincing win the Saints are well on their way for another playoff push. With Detriot in town, the Saints will have their hands full, but without Ndamukong Suh the Lions are a lot more vunerable to the high-powered Saints offense. I’ve got New Orleans in a shootout.

Trav: San Diego Chargers
Kris: San Diego Chargers

Trav: What would seem like a no brain pick at the beginning of the year has turned into a head scratcher. Philip Rivers will probably find some way to lose this game, and make both Kris and I look retarded. But, we don’t really need his help with that. Thanks anyway, Phil.
